Connect Heartcast With Your Fitness Equipment
Execute these steps before every session. 10-15 seconds.
Open HeartCast on your Watch and iPhoneOpen HeartCast on your Watch and iPhone to and allow them to synchronize your Heart Rate. This may take a few of seconds.
Press Start on HeartCast on your WatchOn your Watch press the HeartCast Start button to begin broadcasting your Heart Rate over Bluetooth. This tells HeartCast on your iPhone to initiate the Bluetooth connection process.
Connect your Bluetooth EquipmentOpen Heart Rate Monitor settings on your Fitness Equipment . Look for “HeartCast” in the available devices list and press connect. If you do not see HeartCast press refresh on your fitness equipment. Press connect and please wait 10-15 seconds for the numbers to sync between your iPhone and your Fitness Equipment.
- Important: HeartCast must remain open and visible on your iPhone until your heart rate is synced between your iPhone and fitness equipment.
- Important: It is not necessary to pair your phone or HeartCast in the same way you would pair a Bluetooth speaker. HeartCast will be automatically discoverable in your fitness equipment’s Heart Rate Monitor settings.

Put On Orangetheory Heart Rate Monitor
First off, wear your Orangetheory heart rate monitor strap, and attach the hrm. It may come as an armband or a chest strap.
Ensure that you apply small drops of water to the sensors of the straps. The sensors are located at the sides of the heart rate monitor position. The wet sensors will facilitate the electrodes functioning.
If you are wearing the chest strap, the adjustment close should be on the right side, with the sensors at the center of the bottom of your chest. Also, remember that the wet sensors should touch your bare skin.
You can wear it on your wrist or at the biceps for the armband, depending on where you feel most comfortable.
Attach the Orangetheory HRM connector to the strap on top of the sensors. The Orangetheory name and symbol should appear on the outside, clearly visible.

How The Peloton Heart Rate Monitor Works
A chest strap heart rate monitor features an oval device that sits on the strap near your breastbone. It connects with two snaps. The monitor takes a flat, coin-shaped battery like you might put in a digital scale and works through Bluetooth.

Similar to other electrode-based medical-grade heart rate monitors, the moisture helps conduct electricity for more accurate readings. But this step isn’t always necessary the sweat from your workout will basically do the same thing. How To Use Your Apple Watch As A Heart Rate Monitor With Peloton
A major complaint in the Peloton community is that theres no way to use the Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor. While the Bike+ has a GymKit solution , the Bike, Tread, and App all require users to rely on a secondary heart rate monitor such as the Peloton branded chest strap for $49 if they want to see their heart rate and zones up on the screen during their workout. So, a company called PK Fitness developed a solution called ECHO heart rate for Apple Watch as a workaround to this problem.
The ECHO app functions similarly to Zoom in that shorter sessions are free, but for longer workouts youll either need to start a new session or upgrade to the paid version for $14.99. Even at this price, it still feels like a bargain compared to the $50-$90 price point for decent heart rate tracking wearables.
ECHO works by collecting your watchs heart rate data from Health and sending it to the phone which connects to the Peloton via Bluetooth. The Peloton is able to read that heart rate data and cast it onto the screen so you can see your heart rate, zones and new Strive Score in real-time. A major bonus is that by connecting using ECHO, your Apple Watch is also making progress towards your activity rings in Apple Health. However, if your Peloton already saves your workouts to Health, the PK team added an option in Settings for you to turn this feature off so you dont get duplicate workouts.

The Peloton branded heart rate monitor is the one that you can get as part of your accessories package. Since we bought the Works package when we bought our bike, it was part of that package.
The Peloton HRM is a chest strap heart rate monitor. Other brands that have a chest strap include the Polar heart rate monitor, which my younger daughter first introduced me to. She used it for her non-Peloton workouts.
It takes some getting used to when wearing a heart rate monitor with a chest strap. This is especially true for women wearing sports bras. It is admittedly uncomfortable, at first, to have the heart rate monitor right under your breasts and then have a sports bra on top of that. But eventually you do not notice it anymore.
Types Of Peloton Heart Rate Monitors
Various wearable devices work with Peloton bikes to measure heart rate and track activity. These include chest straps, wristwatches, and armbands.
When looking for a device, whether a wristwatch or a chest strap, a person should consider what is most important.
