Also to know is, what kind of surgery did Mick Jagger have on his heart?

Jagger underwent a minimally invasive procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Doctors accessed his heart valve using a catheter that was inserted through his femoral artery, avoiding the need to open Jagger’s chest.

Subsequently, question is, did Mick Jagger have bypass surgery? Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, underwent heart valve replacement surgery in New York last week, postponing the band’s upcoming U.S. tour. This treatment is an approach to aortic valve disease that can be done without having to open up a patient’s chest or place them on the heart-lung machine, said Dr.

Considering this, why did Mick Jagger come to the US for heart surgery?

– Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger said on Friday he was on the mend after undergoing surgery that caused postponement of the band’s planned North American tour. The 75-year-old British singer underwent heart valve replacement surgery in New York earlier this week, according to media reports.

How is Mick Jagger doing after his surgery?

Mick Jagger is doing very wellafter the singer’s reported heart surgery, which the singer underwent just days after the Rolling Stones postponed their upcoming stadium tour. Mick Jagger has successfully undergone treatment. Rolling Stone previously reported that Jagger underwent surgery to repair a heart valve.

Learn About Mick Jagger’s Condition:

According to CNN, Jagger had a heart valve replaced last week.

A source also told The Sun that: “Mick will be undergoing a non-invasive heart valve procedure. The prognosis is good and this kind of surgery has a high success rate.”

Billboard since reported that the Gimme Shelter singer has completed his heart valve procedure, which involved a completion of the “transcatheter aortic valve replacement” which allows doctors to access a major artery using a catheter without opening the chest.

Now the Rolling Stones frontman himself has taken to Twitter to say that all is well and he is “on the mend”.

He wrote: “Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, Im feeling much better now and on the mend – and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job.”

Very miss-leading post, but hey, its from a conservative.

You enjoy being wrong about everything and I enjoy pointing it out. In your post you are 0 for 2, that’s bad, really bad.

Here are some facts for you to ponder:

    1) The pro single payer group points to the European models of Nationalized Health care.

    2) They do so using statistics to make the European models appear superior to ours.

    3) If the above 2 facts were true, it is only logical that a citizen of any of the European countries would choose the superior system with a major surgery. Mick Jagger, chose the US to get his care.

Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger is set to have a stent placed in his heart following the bands tour postponement, Page Six has learned.

You can be back at work within weeks following the procedure, a source tells us. But it could be because the health checks are all set into the insurance for the tour, maybe theyre being careful by postponing the tour.

According to Drudge Report, who first reported Jagger would undergo surgery, the procedure will take place in New York City this week and the 75-year-old Stones frontman is expected to make a full recovery. Sources told the site Jagger is in extraordinary physical condition.

A rep for Jagger did not immediately return Page Sixs request for comment.

The bands North American No Filter tour, which was set to kick off in a few weeks, was postponed after Jagger was diagnosed with an undisclosed illness.

Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment, the Stones said in a statement over the weekend.

A source told Page Six at the time, This is not a serious thing and the band was already in the process of rebooking the tour dates.

I really hate letting you down like this, Jagger said in a statement. Im devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.

What Is Heart Valve Surgery Exactly

Heart valve surgery is done to treat heart disease, an issue with one of the four valves in your heart that keep your blood flowing in the right direction, according to the Mayo Clinic. Each valve has flaps that open and close during a heartbeat and, when they dont open or close the way they should, it can disrupt the blood flow through your heart and body.

During heart valve surgery, a doctor will either repair or replace the affected valves. This can be done during one of several different surgeries, including open heart surgery and minimally invasive heart surgery, says , chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic

There are a few options when it comes to replacing a valve, the American Heart Association says. Those include inserting a mechanical valve, a human or animal donor valve, and borrowing a healthy valve and moving it to the spot where you have damage.

Timing of the surgery depends on what youre having done, but it can run from about an hour for a catheter-based valve replacement to four hours for a more standard surgical procedure, Dr. Gillinov says.

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, 75, is recovering after undergoing heart valve surgery earlier this week. The prodedure Mick Jagger had is called a transcatheter aortic valve replacement. “People need this procedure because they have aortic stenosisthe stiffening and the narrowing of one of the heart valves,” said Gilbert Tang, MD, senior faculty of cardiovascular surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Patients with aortic stenosis can experience fatigue, lightheadedness, chest pressure, and, in severe cases, shortness of breath, as the heart struggles to pump blood to other parts of the body. Following the procedure, patients are advised to take it easy for a while, and doctors pay close attention to how the groin artery heals. “After they go home, we do advise patients after this procedure not to lift any heavy groceries to allow the groin to heal up properly,” said Dr. Tang.

Mick Jagger appeared healthy and energetic as he returned to the stage for his first major concert performance following heart surgery.

Jagger, 75, ran and skipped along a narrow stage that jutted out into the crowd as the Rolling Stones launched their North American tour at Soldier Field in Chicago.

It was his first major concert performance since doctors told him three months ago he required medical treatment and needed to postpone the tour.

Jagger reportedly underwent a heart valve replacement procedure in New York.

The band, formed more than 50 years ago, opened with Street Fighting Man followed by Lets Spend the Night Together.

Its great to be back at Soldier Field for the eighth time, Jagger said, before launching into the third song, Tumbling Dice.

The No Filter Tour was slated to start on 20 April in Miami before doctors told Jagger in late March he required treatment, reportedly for a heart valve issue.

Jagger tweeted at the time: Im devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can.

A representative for Jagger said in April he successfully underwent treatment and that he was expected to make a full recovery.

All the cities on the tour that were previously postponed are locked in, and there is a new date in New Orleans.

Mick Jagger Is Having His Heart Valve Repaired

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones is reportedly scheduled to undergo minimally invasive heart valve surgery this week.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has experts available to discuss heart valve procedures, how far technology has advanced and outcomes related to minimally invasive procedures like transcatheter aortic valve replacement

James Davies, M.D., is the director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UAB and holds the John. W. Kirklin Endowed Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He has an active clinical practice with specific interest in cardiac valvular disease. Along with UAB cardiologists, he started the transcatheter aortic valve program, which has performed more TAVR procedures than any other center in the state. Davies performs more than 100 open aortic valve replacements annually. Through this volume of procedures, Davies has a very good understanding of the disease process and the surgical treatment of vascular heart disease.

Sara J. Pereira, M.D., specializes in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery and enjoys re-operative surgery, aortic surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. She teaches residents and has been pivotal in advancing the thoracic residency program at UAB. Her research interests include quality improvement and clinical outcomes in adult cardiac surgery.

UAB has a full-service broadcast team that can facilitate interviews for TV, radio or Skype and provide b-roll or sound on request.

Mick Jagger’s Heart Valve Replacement A Success

Absent any post-surgery complications, Jagger could be sent home from the hospital in a matter of days.

Mick Jagger ‘undergoes Successful Heart Operation’ After Health Scare

The 75-year-old singer needed heart valve surgery this week, forcing the delay of the Rolling Stones’ latest tour

Mick Jagger’s heart surgery was successful and he is now recovering, according to reports.

The Rolling Stones frontman went under the knife to have a damaged heart valve replaced earlier this week.

Tonight Billboard is reporting that the 75-year-old is being monitored following the operation in New York.

The heart problem was spotted after a routine scan ahead of the North American leg of the bands No Filter tour, forcing a postponement.

If any of the four heart valves are not working properly it can interfere with blood flow as well as force the heart to work harder to supply the necessary blood to the rest of the body.

It leaves sufferers at greater risk of heart failure and sudden cardiac death.

Surgeons can replace a malfunctioning valve with a mechanical one, or a valve made from cow, pig or human heart tissue.

Sir Mick was spotted on Sunday playing on a beach in Miami in the US state of Florida with ballerina girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 31, two-year-old son Deveraux, and daughter Georgia May, 27.

Sir Micks team have pointed to his meticulous health regime as compelling evidence he will bounce back from the surgery.

He runs up to eight miles a day, cycles, and does yoga, kickboxing and ballet.
