A Prayer For Speedy Recovery After Operation
Everlasting Father, thank You because Your promises are sure. You are a faithful God, and I can rely on You. Your Word promises that if I ask You anything in the Name of Your Son Jesus, You will do it.
I thank You for the operation I just went through, and humbly ask for speedy recovery from this procedure. I pray that my body will be restored back to health once again and feel 100% better than before.
Only You, God, can put back together every cell, nerve, tendon and skin in a nick of time. I pray that there will be no complications that would in any way slow the recovery process. You are My Healer and I trust in You and believe You to quicken this process in the Name of the Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the Lord your God goes with you he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Almighty God, I give you praise and thanks for life and the blessing of this day. I commit my life and health to your hands.
And I ask that you strengthen my heart and be with me as the doctors prepare me for surgery.
I have a lot going through my mind right now. And I am filled with dread and anxious thoughts about the outcome of this surgery.
So, please calm my heart and assure me that I will be okay give me the courage to undergo this surgery.
I pray that you will take charge of the procedure as the chief surgeon. Lastly, grant me a smooth surgery and give me a speedy recovery afterward.

I pray for speedy recovery. May God give him strength to overcome all that has become weak in him. May he be filled with Jesuss strength and may Jesuss blood flow through him, cleansing him of all damages caused by the virus and give him new life. Prayer For Healing Of The Mind And Body
Father, praise You for this life. As we prepare for surgery to the body You have given us, many things flow into our minds and out of our hearts as we lie in wait. Yet, You reassure us by lovingly saying: I am the Lord who heals you.
We have an end picture in our minds as to what healed looks like for us, and desperately look to You for assurance that our lives and our pain will be healed. You are above all, see all, know all, and are capable of healing all. When Jesus walked the earth, He healed by the touch of His hand and the sound of His voice. We pray to feel Your healing hand upon us, Lord, and hear Your voice of peace and tranquility boom over the loud pain that throbs through our minds and bodies.

One of our very best friends is at the hospital this morning to prepare for surgery to remove a brain tumor. He is a huge part of our lives, has been a faithful friend to Andrew and I for 11 years, and is an adopted uncle to our girls. He flew to another city for this surgery, and we have been feeling so far away and wishing we could be with him and his family to offer tangible support. As we fight the restlessness that comes with waiting for a major event like surgery, we are holding onto the promises of God.
Before the surgery, God has already showed up. We create our editorial calendar over a month in advance, and we scheduled our Resources topic for this week to be a prayer guide for what to pray while your child is in surgery—three weeks before we knew about our friend’s surgery. I am reminded of Proverbs 16:9, which says, A mans heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps. God knew that we would need these verses to claim for our friend today even before we did. Knowing that these verses come right from the heart of God, we offer these to you to meditate on or pray as your child or loved one is back in surgery.

Prayers For Successful Surgery
1.) Heavenly Father, I take refuge in Your unfailing promises as I undergo this surgery. Protect my physical body as the surgeon operates on me. Let Your Spirit be with the surgeon, Lord, that he may help me to be restored to good health once again. I trust that You are my healer, God, and it is only through You that my health will be restored.
Father, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, allow me to be not afraid. Be my comfort. Let Your goodness and mercy follow me, even through this surgery. Please be with me at this time when I am most vulnerable. Grant me peace of mind that I may not worry. In Your Name, I ask all these, Amen.
2.) Dearest Lord, I entrust my life to You today as I go on the operating table. May Your hand be upon the surgeons and doctors who will do the operation. Allow them to act as extensions of Your healing hands. Enable them to be the instruments that will help me recover my strength. As I fall asleep from the anesthetic, I ask You to be with me always. Allow me to feel Your presence. Let Your peace surround me even as I am unconscious. I trust in Your promise, God, that when I call to you for help, you will heal me. All these things I ask in Your Name, Amen.

Religion Prayer & Heart Surgery
Just before my aortic valve replacement, my Uncle Marc advised me that prayer before surgery was not a bad idea. Marc is more than an uncle to me. Marc is a mentor in many aspects of my life.
So, I took Marcs suggestion and contemplated the notion of prayer, even religion, before my heart surgery. Looking for answers, I jumped onto Google and immediately learned a lot about the mystical approaches to securing positive surgical outcomes following cardiac procedures. As you might might imagine, the results of clinical studies were mixed on this topic.
Some of the studies suggested positive results of prayer before surgery:
- A 1993 Israeli survey following 10,000 civil servants for 26 years found that Orthodox Jews were less likely to die of cardiovascular problems than nonbelievers.
- A 1995 study from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., monitoring 250 people after open-heart surgery concluded that those who had religious connections and social support were 12 times less likely to die than those who had none.
Some of the studies suggest that prayer by third-parties prior to surgery was a non-factor and potentially more harmful:
- A 2006 Harvard study of more than 1,800 patients concluded that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of heart surgery patient complications.

Lord, as I undergo this surgery. I pray it would be beyond text book status. That everything would go smoothly and better than they originally thought. That this surgery would be 110% success.
